What is a Dental Bridge?
Also called partial dentures or “partials”, a dental bridge replaces multiple teeth. A bridge consists of natural-looking artificial teeth that use adjacent original teeth for support. A dental bridge can be removable or permanently attached. We will help you determine which type of bridge is right for you.
Types of Dental Bridges
Removable bridges use metal clasps to remain secure and steady whenever they are being used. These bridges are made to be secure, even when the patient is talking or eating. A great feature of removable bridges is that they can be taken out of the mouth for easy cleaning and then quickly reinserted.
Unlike a removable bridge, a fixed bridge remains permanently secured inside of the mouth, and requires oral surgery in order to be removed. Fixed bridges can be applied in one of two ways. They can be placed on top of supporting structures (implants), or they can be bonded directly to adjacent teeth.
